Will it fit?

Yes you read the title correctly. :p

In all seriousness though! I just bought my first ukulele and I plan on taking it everywhere with me this summer. I'm used to playing huge immobile instruments and the fact that an ukulele is so easy to take along is one of the most awesome things about it.

That said, I was advised to buy a bag for it. So I was looking online, and I found this:

And now my question is: will a simple Makala Dolphin ukulele fit in this bag? Do all soprano ukulele's have identical sizes? Can I safely order this, without the risk of it not fitting?

Mahalo,

I have a Dolphin, I also have one of those bags - the answer is YES!

(bear in mind though, you may be better travelling with a fully hard case - a little more weight, but virtually no more extra space)

Hey,

I'm from germany and I've got this exact bag for my mahalo (my "take-everywhere-uke") and it fits perfectly - so I think it will fit for your dolphin as well, cause I think the size is pretty much the same.

And - I take my uke with me almost everyday - and even though the finish of the mahalo is so easy to hurt (e.g. it already wears off at the neck) it has no scratches or "dings and dongs"... ;-) I think if you relate the price of the bag to the price of the uke you've already made the perfect choice...(imho)

I like the Fusion F1 series ukulele gig bags but they may end up costing more than your ukulele. I would compromise and get a lightweight Kala molded foam/hard shell case as it has a carry handle and shoulder straps for hands free portage.

Thank you very much for the info guys :). I do think it would be a bit of an overkill to buy a hard case for it.
Anyway, I plan on being careful with it even when it's inside the bag, so I'm not that worried. :)

Yup, Sopranos are all generally the same size (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and so the majority of gigbags made for a soprano will fit one, same goes for Concerts, Tenors...you get the drift.

I usually use the box the Dolphin came in for travel. I have seen some people reinforce their boxes with duct tape. I usually travel with 2 Dolphins in my carry on duffel bag. Fine for US airline travel. If you are going to be walking around and wearing it on your shoulder or back than that Rockbag looks like a good choice.
I have these two Kala soprano gig bags, and I like them:

When I bought a Leolani pineapple from Hawaii Music Supply they sent it in the nicest bag. It's padded with padded inserts you can move around to anchor the uke inside and even has nice backpack straps along with the regular ones. I doubt that it's very expensive since it was part of an "included" package.
