Greetings all;

I would like to inquire about ukes in Fiji. The internet wasn't too helpful in locating locally made ukes on the islands. Does any know if the locals build quality ukulele's there?

I'll be there with enough time to search for a locally made, quality beach strummer.

I've already got a bad case of short timers disease here at work....
Day dreaming of sitting in the sand, watching the palm trees sway while the crystal clear water laps at my toes, and strumming a few tunes while the sun sets on a pic perfect horizon.

Thanks for your input.

my advice is to very carefully check the build quality. My parents brought me this Ukulele Shaped Object home from Fiji

Dad knew it was horrible but he liked the pattern, so it's a wall-hanger. He said that there's plenty of these tourist-fodder jobs like this over there. I think with a bit of work it could be playable, but I'd have to replace the tuners, bring the action down by about 8mm, and of course it doesn't help having everything off-center and a big divot in the fretboard...
