What Goes Well Together?

Heyall, I been playing the ukulele on and off for about 6 months or so now. I have a basic grasp of the major chords and some of the minor chords but I can't help but feel a bit discouraged when I am just strumming the the ukulele and produce awful sounds.
I would play G,C,D,Am,Dm,Em usually (not necessarily in that order) and it would sounds horrible not because its buzzing or my transition (I worked on that) but because I have no idea how to string chords together. If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it.
