traditional. American. one of the first indigenous American folk songs, it was first transcribed by Oscar Brand.

I recorded it tonight in my nana's old arm chair, into the wee hours of a freezing winter's night with the fire burning beside me.

This is a beautiful old tune, simple to play with just the 3 basic uke chords: C. F and G7 and just a sweet, sweet sentiment. Clever, self deprecating lyrics, great around a campfire, and lots of fun as a memory song for children or old folks alike. Hope you enjoy it. :)

Good on ya Joe, thanks for the kind comment mate. Cheers.

PS I think the hat's older than I am...he he

Love this tune...was awfully fun to sing around a camp fire about a million years ago in scouts. Good job on it.
Think I am going to call Mel "run for your life" from this day on,
and my farm "MUSCLE IN THE ARM"- you did not include that one, but I am sure you can well imagine 100 kids flexing up the gun show and yelling it every time it came up. To be young again.
