Hey, Canuke here. Just had my first uke gig at an open mike here in South Korea. Played in a bar in Daejeon. Everyone liked it. The Koreans were appreciative and they intrigued by the ukulele. I never meet any Koreans who play. They all call it a mini-guitar. But I am slowly spreading the Gospel of Uke to the world.

Aloha CanUke,
Congratulations... Wow long time you haven't posted...good to have you back...does the ukes attract alot ot the younger crowds mostly there..?? MM Stan

Congrats! Sounds like it was great fun.

Cool, Keep on Uking!

The ukulele is not a widely known instrument in Korea, but there are its loyal supporters if you know where to look. If you are staying in Korea for a while and can search online, I think you may be able to find the ukulele clubs in Korea.

For example, here is Changsoo Kim, who is the founder of the Bambell Music company in Korea, which manufactures ukes and apparently runs the Ukulele festival in Korea (?)

Congrats and keep uke'in'!

Wow! Neat set up at the Ukulele Festival back in 2008! Pretty
intimidating. Very professional looking and sounding!

Thanks,
