With all the YouTube videos showing people playing mini ukes, I decided to join the fun. Spent the last three days building this pineapple. I have to admit, it was agood use of 4A koa that was otherwise to small to use. Here are the particulars;

Total length 12.5 "
Body length 5.5 "
Body width 3.75
Scale length 200 mm
nut width 1.06 "

I want it wahhhh! How much?? :cool: :iwant: Amy P would love to have it for a pet.

Looks like it would fit in a carry on. Not that I can afford to go anywhere.

Are you keeping it for a show display or for yourself? It is too too cute!

Sound sample please. Do you tune it to like H?

Dude, that is just all sorts of incredible... you wouldn't happen to be interested in selling that :)
I think it'd be just the perfect size to go with the new baby coming soon- (maybe to put near him, but not touch!)

Thanks guys, I'll try and do a video tomorrow. I have been playing it all day and my fingers are really sore. It is a lot of fun! It is tuned one octave higher than regular ukes, get some of these and some tin whistles and you are set.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, customs? You must have a lot of little pieces of great tonewoods...

Next I am going to tweak the design and try to do a small production run. I'll use this thread to contact those that expressed interest first.

That is amazing looking!

I must say, however, that the peg tuners are way too big for performing. On the Tangi 10", I keep having to chord G by putting my palm over the top of the headstock. That said, WANT!!!

I have been reading about the Tangi mini's on some other threads and they have provided some useful info. Rather than building a decoration that can sorta be played, my interest is in building a small uke that is fun to play and very easy to transport. With that in mind, I'm going to bump up the size a bit. I arrived at the first mini P dimensions by taking the primary dimensions of a pineapple concert and cutting them in half. I will build the next one by taking tenor dimensions and halving them. I can play the prototype, but it is more work than I like, and am hoping that a few extra millimeters will make a big difference. Time will tell. For those of you that commented about the tuners, I had originally fabricated some friction tuners for the prototype, but do to a design flaw, installed the PegHeds just to see how it would work. I'll redesign the tuners and try again. When I get a chance I'll post some progress pics of the build of the new one.

Ha, ha, ha. Says you. I beg to differ.;) When a guy drools that means, I definitely want whatever I'm drooling about!

Actually, what I'd really like is a long neck concert version of this lovely instrument.
