I don't know if this is either appropriate to post, or if this is the right place, but I just wanted to give a shout out and a recommendation for perhaps the handiest Android app I've ever come across: the gStrings Tuner.
It's a fully functional metered tuning app that uses sound instead of vibration (yes, I know one is composed of the other) to tune the instrument. The nice bit is you can customize it for different stringed instruments (violin, guitar, etc), and it also will automatically compensate for changing octaves. Oh, and it is free here: http://www.cohortor.org/gstrings/Documentation.html
And, since we always have our phones with it, this may certainly come in handy in those unexpected situations.
