Yes, I have used them in several guitars. I have 2 that I use in my Big Baby Taylor that I leave at school during the winter months.

I have Herco's in my 2 KoAlohas and my house I humidity controlled.

There are several folks here who have made their own. Search for homemade ukulele humidifiers. Here are 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfA4cgRFtvo

Does it drip at all? And does it fit between the strings without too much stretch?

If by it, you mean the Planet Waves guitar humidifier, I fill it and tap out excess water, let it sit for a few minutes and dry off the outside before placing it back in the guitar. It does not drip. There is not too much stretch in the guitar strings.
