Is there a simple program for Macintosh to produce sound clips. I tried Audacity but it seemed to complicated. Perhaps it's me?

Audacity is simplier than it first looks. You don't have to use all the bells and whistles.

Selecting, cutting, pasting, fading, and magnifying are all you need to use at first.

I'm not a Mac owner, but I've heard some folks use Garage Band to do the job.

Audacity can do a lot of really cool things for a free software. If there's a solo you want to learn but the notes go by too fast, you can put a recording into Audacity and use the software to slow it down without changing the pitch, so you can figure out what the notes are.
