Hi Folks -

I am the proud owner of a nearly-new 40 year-old Martin Baritone ukulele.

This instrument has pegs in the saddle, requiring ball-end strings. I'd like to use a combination of wound / nylon strings.

It seems that I am going to need to purchase individual classical guitar strings, because most baritone ukulele string sets have threaded ends (not ball ends).

Can any Martin Baritone / peg saddle players share what type of strings they use and from whom they purchased them? I tune the instrument D-G-B-D (like a cavaquinho).

Thanks!
Rob

Ah! Makes sense. I thought that it may be that simple, but I like to make life difficult. Cheers!

You are not making life difficult. It never hurts to ask a reasonable question. I remember the first time I had to restring my really nice classical guitar. I didn't want to screw up the top if a string knot came undone. Now I drill holes for strap buttons, some refinishing, etc., but never without lots of research.
