Hello all,
I am a neophyte to this ukulele lifestyle, but i'm enjoying it like a pro.
I have a question concerning strings - this is inspired by the snapping off of my A string (oddly enough, it happened while I was listening to a youtube video on "I'm yours how to play," and not while I was playing it).
The Pono Tenor ukulele was a gift from my brother. The person who sold it to him (don't know whether he was a luthier or not) also gave him an extra set of strings for it. The strings he gave were concert strings. Assuming the guy was knowledgeable, what is the reason for using strings for a different ukulele size? Or is this even an appropriate idea - that of using concert strings on a tenor ukulele? (or is concert perhaps referring to the quality of the strings instead of the size?).
I've heard much from various threads and such...but I thought i'd ask here too - it seems the strings all are beginning to lose some luster, so should i go ahead and replace all 4? also, i haven't restrung any instruments (other than a kabosy guitar from Madagascar), so would i be better off having it done at a store, or will I be well-guided by aldrine's video?
thanks for reading and potentially replying
