There were a lot of people who wanted that ukulele that didn't get it. Trying to sell something you get for free is pretty ungrateful to me.

I tried to walk away from this but I here I am...

As someone who gives away a lot of ukes, the greatest joy I get is seeing someone appreciate what I gave them by using it to death. If I sent someone a uke and for whatever reason they decided to sell it, I wouldn't be happy but I would understand and respect their decision.

Now I know you won this uke and it is yours to do as you see fit with it however trying to sell it on the site that gave you an awesome opportunity to win the uke to the same people who tried so hard to win the uke is a total dick move.

Yes it is yours. Yes you can do what you want with it. Still a dick thing to do.

if i dint have the ticket i wouldnt ever sell the uke. so my choices are sell the uke hope uu will understand and prolly offend a few people (and make up for it later) and pay the tickets or land my butt in jail for tickets. i tried ever thing i could not to resort to selling this uke because it is special to me.

look i ave no idea wat the uke is worth i actual value but in sentimental value i cant even describe how much it means to me. all i know is i got 200 out of the $1500 left to make( ive sold everything i have). yes i know its a dick move yes i know its seems un grateful and yes i know its a dick move to sell it on the the same place where i won it. but id rather a member of uu have it than joe shmoe. i dont know what else to say.

I'm sensitive to your situation-- honest. But even on ebay, you're going to be lucky to get that much-- you can get a tenor for around $260 new. With a group of people who know you didn't pay for it in the first place... It's simple market economics is all...

Actually this idea isn't to bad. But how about the ten people who send in the the money are the ones who are up for the re-gift. Kinda like buying a raffle ticket. This even sounds a little selfish.

I suppose but I would really like to contribute to the community by giving to someone in need. It just seems like the right thing to do. As of now....there is no aloha in this whole thing. Sam means no harm as he has expressed already. I don't want it.........but somebody could really use it and show it some love.

First off I like you thinking of how to put a somewhat positve spin on the whole situation david.

But meaning no harm does not mean damage is not done. I could rant on but it would not be anything that hasn't already been said.

I was driving back from Fayetteville where i was visiting my girlfriend and when i got in town my brother called ad asked if i could pick up a friend of his and bring him to the house. and not wanting to get caught with a minor in my car after curfew i sped. when police lights came on in my rear mirror the "friend" started freaking out and pulled out illegal substances and pariphanaila out of his jacket pocket and opened the door and threw them out. this being Arkansas if someone in the car is in possession of a illegal substance every1 gets charged for it. so i got a ticket for speeding, littering, and possession of paraphernalia, illegal substances, contributing to the delinquency of a minor. and a trip to the detention center. and got slapped with a total sum of 1500 for the littering and speeding. it would have been more but my attorney says they will drop the possession charges this being my first offense and the fact that the kid admitted to tossing them and owning them. All in all it was the singularly worst experience in my life.

You're coming off as pretty judgmental, here. One thing that keeps this forum a good one is the friendliness and tolerance of the community's members.

I don't see how your attitude of moral superiority is adding to the aloha spirit of the community... I'd actually say it's just as detrimental as the original poster trying to hawk something he won here.

Flaming is attacking people, being unproductive and hostile.

I was trying to be constructive, here. All I was doing was calling for civility. And I'm assuming you're the one that decided to hit me with negative rep for doing so, and that's kinda harsh. But you do what you need to do.

I'm really not "flaming" you. I was just saying that we don't really know each other, here, and that implying-- as you seemed to be (and sort of still seem to be)-- that someone "has it coming to 'em," as it were, is kind of judgemental and making some big assumptions.

Maybe things do level themselves out in the end, but as far as I'm concerned, passing judgment on others is best left to a higher power-- it's not our place, certainly not the place of strangers who don't even know the particular circumstances. That's all I was trying to say.

But yeah, maybe I was reading more into it than you originally intended. :o

Shesh! What a mess.

As most of us know whatever is written/posted here or elsewhere is up for interpretation and criticism, be it true or false, good or bad, right or wrong. Same is true for music and art. One can either choose to get all wonky about it or learn and grow from it.

SamIAm had an issue and felt inclined to post, most likely knowing how it might be interpreted. We UU-sers freely responded in a variety of ways (most including myself under the cloak of an alias ;)) knowing it would be read by those that chose to. Then, it sounded like things kinda worked out. Finally, an intellectual and a creative type chose to mince words. How entertaining! :biglaugh:

Tad, perhaps the expression wasn't "perfect", nothing and nobody is, but you are free to feel as you do and "riposte" about anything and whatever else might be assumed without knowing and accepting what was truly meant.

So I learned something. Perhaps others did too. Let's be pau with this eh?

Live and Learn... couldnt have said it better.

I haven't figured out how to, though there's been at least two threads I started that I would have liked to have deleted.

If you figure out a way, other than asking the mods-- and I don't even know if they can delete threads, or just lock 'em-- please tell me how!

Also, this thread has brought up at least one really good insight: the fleamarketmusic for sale section needs to be switched over to some sort of more dynamic design. It really is a mess.
