I just had a chance to play a Santa Cruz ukulele at a music store located in the far Western suburbs of St. Louis. The Santa Cruz is a very nice sounding uke with a classical basic appearance. Examining the uke, it was easy to tell that it was meticulously hand crafted. When I looked at the price tag of $1800, I gently laid it to rest where I found it. Folks, once again, I don't find $1800 of value in this ukulele.

This should more be like a novelty item that could be found in the Neiman Marcus (Needless Markup) catalog.

delray,
Im not sure if you know how much time and effort go into making a nice hand crafted ukulele. At $1,800 there is very little profit margin. Nice clean work takes time.

I don't disagree with you. It was a very nicely handcrafted instrument. I can appreciate the time, labor, and love that goes into building the SCGC ukulele. It was a joy to play.
