I'm playing a Concert sized Lanikai LU-21, I have been playing for about a year and a half. My ukes head stock is cracked all the way down past the A string tuning key and I am considering upgrading to a "Boulder Creek
Riptide Mahogany Tenor Acoustic Electric Ukulele" http://www.samash.com/p/Boulder Creek_Riptide Mahogany Tenor Ukulele_-49946620.

My band consists, right now, of my ukulele, a guitar, a trumpet, and occasional percussion. We are eventually going to play full band stuff as well, for example: Ukulele, Acoustic Electric Guitar, Drums, Bass, Electric Guitar, a Trumpet, and a Trombone, maybe a Saxophone as well but doubtful.

So what do you guys think ?
I would really love your opinions on my band, the uke I want (how you think it would fit etc.), and everything! Thank you!

I liked "Party Song", but I think the spoken part undermines the song. It didn't come off as funny to me, it was just a WTF? moment. The musical parts reminded me of a band from around 1990 called Ed's Redeeming Qualities that had a ukulele player, and did a combination of funny songs and songs about slacker life.

Personally, I don't think expanding to a full horn section would be a good fit for this kind of comedy music, but that's just one person's opinion. With a horn section, you have to write horn arrangements, and that tends to make the music rhythmically complex -- the horn players will want to have punches and riffs to play.

Recently I saw a Riptide that looked very much like the one you referenced. Nice looking instrument. I didn't play it, but heard it played and it sounded nice. The one I saw had a matt finish, and looked like it was all mahogany.
