I'm in Seattle on business and wanted to give a shout out to Dusty Strings an acoustic music store here in Fremont. I took a short break from my meeting and took the bus out to the store and spent an hour and a half or so trying out their great selection of ukes. Lots of Kala ukes for beginners (not a Kala fan myself) but I played a Kamaka soprano and pineapple, a Ko'olau soprano (model 200) a number of Kiwaya ukes, a Collings concert, a few vintage ukes including a Martin 0, Regal, Hawaii. Played a new Martin 5K, oh and had a chance to play a National resonator and a few metal bodied ukes. What a great time and the service folks were great, not obtrusive, obviously very trusting, and yet always there when I had a question. If you visit Seattle this is a must see for a uke player.
