Has anyone had experience with Earnest Ukuleles a USA luthier?
I am particularly interested in a model he calls La Paula.

I have one of Joel's palomino concert ukes. Excellent quality of construction and tone. The uke has lots of 'bark' and is very bright, kind of old-time uke sound.

There are pictures and some sound samples of this uke here (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?50815-Which-concert-uke-should-go-(Kamaka-Eanest-Black-Bear)).

Joel makes top notch instruments with great workmanship and playability. He is also a great guy all around. I am surprised that his name is not mentioned much more often in these forums.

Joel is an excellent luthier. I try to mention his name frequently on this forum. He's been building ukes for years. He's also a fine player and as EDW says is a great guy. I've played a few of his ukuleles and they are wonderful. Some day, I will get a Stradelele.

He is a real nice guy. I took a workshop from him a few years ago and he really got me into playing.

A friend has two of his ukes and they are really nice from both a sound and construction standpoint.
