View Full Version : I'm bummed out. Tell me what song to learn!

I had to go back to work last week, and now I'm too tired to do anything. I come home and collapse and just wait for the food to find its way onto the dinner table... then I just eat some ramen and call it a night.

So what's a good song for a really bummed out, tired, stressed, underpaid, and totally unappreciated adjunct who just got off of summer break and spends all her time with really inconsiderate eighteen year olds and has no energy whatsoever?

I'm thinking something that would sound really nice (thus improving my general feeling of unappreciatedness) but without too much effort? And give me explicit instructions too, since I will never conjure up enough brain power to figure anything out myself... like how to strum it! Actually, just play it for me and I'll follow along. Or better yet, come over here and play it and pick up some Thai food on your way over. Don't forget the spring rolls.

I understand that the music company has recalled the song. It is no longer available. The tabs have also been recalled. Sorry.

I hear there's this guy Jason who did a nice cover of it. The original is better, though.

They have recalled Jason's cover as well as the original. All copies have been deleted.

There's no cure for the adjunct blues.

Well, except for tenure. But they keep telling me that's its own headache. Not sure if they're telling the truth or softening the blow, though.

One of my favourite bands, one of their best albums, one of their most underrated and un-listened to songs:

I'm So Tired by the Beatles. It's on the White Album. No strum pattern needed, just the occasional downstroke will do.

A G#7 D E7 A F#m7 D E7
I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink, I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink.
A E+ F#m DmI
wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink, no, no, no
I'm so tired, I don't know what to do,
I'm so tired, my mind is set on you.
I wonder should I call you but I know what you would do...

You say I'm putting you on but it's no joke, it's doing me harm you know I

can't sleep, I can't stop my brain, you know it's three weeks, I'm going insane

you know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind.

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset.
Although I'm so tired, I'll have anothercigarette and
curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid get.

What do you think?

The last 2 lines of "I'm so tired" is my favorite Lennon lyric.

Don't Worry, Be Happy
Bobby McFerrin

C
Here is a little song I wrote
G
You might want to sing it note for note
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry be happy
C
In every life we have some trouble
G
When you worry you make it double
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry, be happy

C
Ain't got no place to lay your head
G
Somebody came and took your bed
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry, be happy
C
The land lord say your rent is late
G
He may have to litigate
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry, be happy

C
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
G
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
F/C C F/C C F/C
But don't worry be happy
C
Cause when you worry, your face will frown
G
And that will bring everybody down
F/C C F/C C F/C
So don't worry, be happy

C
There is this little song I wrote
G
I hope you learn it note for note
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry, be happy; Listen to what I say
C
In your life expect some trouble
G
But when you worry, you make it double
F/C C F/C C F/C
Don't worry, be happy

They're trying to scare us away so they don't have to interview as many applicants when a position opens up. Or else they're just spoiled rotten and are 80 years old and got their first tenured position when they were 22... yeah, life is just harder these days.
