Hi I am new here. 1st post. I would like some opinions on a few ukes I am deciding on. There are not a lot of options where I live to try these out to hear for myself. So. I am considering a Mainland mahagony tenor, kala asac-t solid acacia tenor and a kala lacewood w/spruce top tenor. Opinions??

Ive heard really great things about Mainland. I'm not familiar with the Kala models that you have mentioned, but Mainland seems to be the "standard" for a lot of people. Whichever you choose, enjoy playing. That is what is most important. Best wishes!

What is a good way to learn solo? I take my uke to social events so i can pick up some thing new from some one. but how do i learn solo, memorizing cord charts by playing? help . please add links to pages were i can play a song.

Try Google or Search the UU archives....or start a new thread but this is a thread where the OP is asking for help on their first uke. I welcomed you in your introduction thread.

So....to the OP:

Welcome to the UU. They are all great ukes - I have played all three. I am sure you would be happy with any one of them. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would go with the Mainland Mahogany.

Here are a few sites to get ya started on a search..

http://www.alligatorboogaloo.com/uke/

http://www.lambchopukulele.blogspot.com/

http://www.dominator.ukeland.com/index2.shtml

http://www.tricornpublications.com/uke_player.htm

And Youtube has tons of Uke videos, tutorials, etc. Just type in the song ya want to hear and add "Ukulele" to it and be suprised what songs someone posts, or has a tutorial on. Some bad tutorials too, but at least they will get ya close enough to take it on your own. Welcome to the site and community..
