If there are any Stockholmer's out there looking for a uke partner, I'm your gal. I also have a few friends that play. Maybe we can get together and play!

I am a beginner in every sense of the word, but if you don't mind I don't.

My ukulele song, about how I would like to be the uke ambassador of Sweden... One of my housemates is playing since like I said, I am a serious beginner...

Here's a link to a thread I posted last year about a fun experience in Stockholm with my uke. I'm going back this year in November, I might just try it again. :)

I will be IN Stockholm from the 21st to the 24th, but I won't have a uke with me! I will have a friend though. If you want to hang out with people, we have no idea what we're doing in Stockholm, besides running around and looking for polar bears.

Hi! Welcome to Sweden!

I used to live in Stockholm many years ago. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it's a lot of fun to visit.

There's a calendar of everything that happens there at DN På Stan, but the events for end of October haven't been announced yet:
http://www.pastan.nu/
It's in Swedish but I take that if you speak German you should be able to understand quite a lot of it.

My personal recommendations of things to do in Stockholm are:

- Fasching, Marie Laveau, and in particular Mosebacke and Södra Teatern for live music and evening bars:
http://www.marielaveau.se/
http://www.fasching.se/
http://www.sodrateatern.com/en/
(Actually Swedish indie pop star Jens Lekman - who plays the ukulele - is playing at Södran on the 22nd but it's sold out already
http://www.sodrateatern.com/en/Program--Tickets/Events-container/Jens-Lekman/)

Check out if the club night Raw Fusion is on when you're there, it's one of the best in Europe.

Galleries and Museums:
- Kulturhuset: http://www.kulturhuset.se/default.asp?id=5617
- Färgfabriken: http://www.fargfabriken.se/index.php?sit=splash&lang=eng
- Liljevalchs: http://www.liljevalchs.se/english/
- Moderna Museet: http://www.modernamuseet.se/en/Stockholm/

In general the southern island of Södermalm is the most fun part of the city.
The archipelago is beautiful and definitely worth a day-trip, even in Autumn.

Food: try blåbärspaj and kanelbulle!

Last but not least: Swedish ukulele goodies:
- Stockholm ukulele club: http://www.ukuleleklubben.se/
- Uke.se : http://www.uke.se/Eindex.htm
- To practice playing Swedish songs on the uke (jazz tuning): http://www.ukulizer.com/show_files.php?dir=swedish&title=Swedish+ukulele+songs
Unfortunately you'll be missing a screening of Mighty Uke on 7th November, and the Ukulele Cabaret (Ukulelekabarén http://www.ukulelekabaren.se/) is closed for winter.

But I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time in this beautiful city!
