I've been noticing that my satin finish Big Island Mahogany uke is turning into a semi-gloss along the neck and near the sound hole where I rest my hand. I kinda like it. Obviously, I am accidentally hand polishing (and hand oiling) the finish where I touch the ukulele. I am wondering if there is an oil or other treatment I can apply to get a similar effect on the entire instrument.

You can use 0000 steel wool. to take it back to satin

... except the question is how to polish it further :D

i'm also interested for my kala actually, i'd like it shinier :D

Aloha Hiddencross,
Search "Kala Acacia......all dressed up" here on Uke Talk. Details on how to gloss up your satin finish..................BO................

Actually, there were specific instructions in a thread on UU very recently. I think it involved a rubbing/polishing compound that was safe for clearcoat car finishes.

KIT "Scratch Out" ought to work. I use it when refinishing my older instruments. Also use it on my motorcycle helmet visors. Very inexpensive compared to other products and works well. Of course, try it out on something other than your ukulele to determine if you like the results.
