Broadway is after all musical theatre and if you are going to perform
a showtime song then you have to go over the top with exaggerated
gestures, hence the eye popping and grimaces.

Nice job, Robert - your 'over the top' managed to hit the bull's eye. I've always taken great pleasure in the fact that - in the midst of the Red Scare - so many capitalists profited so handsomely by covering a song written by an ardent Marxist.
