Mahogany is, always has been, and continues to be my favorite wood of choice from furniture, to instruments. But, I might be finding my 2nd. I mentioned Maple being my favorite tree in the Autumn, but my #1 all time tree is the Magnolia. As far as wood working, my favorite wood has always been mahogany, but now I am finding maple cool to mess with. My 1st all maple Aphid I might just keep for myself. It is gonna look sweet. I am enjoying working with maple as a primary wood. Not my favorite "tone" wood (too bright for my tastes), but am diggin working with it.

It is cute, Tony. I've always liked maple grain - but makes me wonder what a quarter-sawn white oak Uke would sound like? (Since I haven't seen any, I'll guess the answer is that it doesn't matter, the wood just doesn't work to build a uke from.)

So, when you start building maple ukes large enough for me to play without severe hand cramps, we'll talk.

Untill then, we can just keep typing back and forth at each other.
