I'm wondering about whether playing an instrument with a crack will make it worse. The reason I'm asking is my guitar, a Gibson L4C , has a small crack in the soundboard in the center at the bottom about 1 inch long. If I play it will the vibrations make it worse. I know its not a uke but I miss playing it and havent had time to get the crack fixed. I guess I could play it a little without hurting it. I should just get it fixed and be done with it.
This crack was fixed once , about 35 years ago , man I'm gettin' old. Any feedback about cracks repaired and unrepaired would be great . Thanks.

Not so much the vibrations but the string tension might. Even with string tension off the changes in humidity can make the crack run or open further.
The worst thing about leaving cracks unattended for a long time is that it makes it much more difficult to repair. Fresh wood is easier to glue than oxidised wood or where dirt/grime has entered the crack.
You may as well get it seen to. It's a relatively expensive instrument.
