Just got this email from NAMM, sounds like there is some new legislation in the works:

NAMM Members are encouraged to participate in a NAMM Member-only conference call with Congressman Jim Cooper (D–Tenn.) to learn about House Res. 3210, the “Retailers and Entertainers Lacey Implementation and Enforcement Fairness” Act, or “RELIEF” Act. During this call, NAMM Members will hear about the details of the “RELIEF” Act to address needed changes in the Lacey Act to diminish burdens to trade and commerce for the music products industry. The legislative review and advocacy process will also be shared by Congressman Cooper’s staff and the NAMM staff.

Good news, I'm glad to hear there finally may be some common sense getting involved!

About time they gave us some slack... hooray for the good news and mahalo for passing it along..

Looks like the bill might help in a few areas: pre-2008 instruments are grandfathered, a call for undefined "streamlining" of, and uniformity of processes, and curiously, an exemption for wood products that are not "solid wood".

As in their earlier statements, NAMM is very concerned about the need to have to document veneer products and particle board.

So it doesn't sound like it will effect the Gibson instruments stolen in 2009 and again just recently by the Feds?
