And yet another question for builders

For you builders who build mainly in all koa. My question is about using koa as your top wood opposed to say spruce. Certainly its partly asthetics? Its partly tradition? Maybe even what your clients want you to use? But what to you are the benifits musically? Whats gained/and if anything whats lost. Sorry if this has been hashed out allready. But I couldnt find this in the search, then again I can barely type. Thanks to all.

Its not that mysterious. Different top woods make different sounding ukes....And a lot of it is the classic appearance too. If you want that classic hawaiian uke sound and look then build it like a classic hawaiian uke.
Lots of other materials are common these days too....spruce, cedar, redwood, mahogany, walnut, maple, etc etc. All can make great sounding ukes......but if you want that koa look then you gotta use koa
