I believe those are made out of silicone! I saw them on an electric bass earlier this year. Pretty wild!

Yep! They're the kind that was on the first "tiny bass," the Ashbory.

Like a bass. But you have to be very careful with them... treat them with baby powder, etc.

Road Toad makes a "ukulele bass" that uses different strings (nylon or polyurethane). You should check them out.

And if you're looking for a bass to go with your ukulele, there's always the walkingbass.

I nearly dropped my jaw when I saw this one in a store here in Tokyo:

It goes for about 400.000 yen (4K$?), bragging rights and sub-zero coolness included.
 
Oh........so I guess they wouldn't work on my tenor? I'll have to try another route to instill 'sub-zero coolness' to my playing. Thanks for all the info guys, sure missed being on the site!!!
