Juniper As A Tonewood

Anyone have any experience?
I have a spotted a nice concert uke with solid Juniper top, back and sides, which is very pretty but as the shop that has it for sale is 250 miles away I would have to buy it mail order. Always a risk I know, but wondered how people rate the Juniper as I haven't come across it before.

I've never heard of juniper as a tone wood.

If I had to hazard a guess as to its tonal qualities, I'd say it'd be something like cedar.

I might be a bit worried about getting the one you're looking at as juniper is a pretty soft wood (I believe) and probably not well suited to the back and sides of a uke.

That was another thing that occurred to me Jamie, Juniper is technically a softwood so may not have the strength needed for a Uke.
It costs around $170 so while not a hugely expensive Uke, I would rather not part with that amount of cash if it will be a disappointment.
