As mentioned in another thread, the Canogahana Players will be meeting "on the other side of the wall" from a group of Hot Wheels collectors in two weeks. They will be able to hear us playing, so I figured we should honor them with some car tunes.

We already have Little Deuce Coup, Mustang Sally, Lookin' Back To See, and Long May You Run. What other car tune suggestions work well on the uke?

Fun Fun Fun (till her daddy took her T-bird away). Better distance that one from Little Deuce Coupe 'cause they are similar.

These folks should be on the lookout for the fun police.

If you want a Hawaiian song, Model T is a really good one.

Here's a link to a Web page where you can look for songs that have been played on NPR's Car Talk. If you look far back enough, you may be able to find more car songs than you'll need.

These are more "road" songs than "car" songs, but maybe they'll work...

Life is a Highway
Drive South
Running on Empty
Take it Easy (perhaps changing the lyrics to be "don't let the sound of your Hot Wheels make you crazy")
Ramble On
Highway Patrol
On the Road Again (Willie Nelson or Canned Heat)
On the Road

That last one is, IMNSHO, among the best road songs ever written. Crank this up during the first mile of your next road trip and see if you don't agree:

I looked around for a song about the Galaxie 500, since I have a nice '66 two door.

Reverend Horton Heat came up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb_juTPQJUc but that's not a very good song for the ukulele.

and there's always a bit of rockabilly--Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen.
