Hi Uke Talkers - I usually post pics of my new designs in the Luthier section, but last time, it was suggested I should post in Uke Talk, so here goes:

This is a (semi) solid electric soprano ukulele. "Semi" solid because the inner core of the body is bored out with a pattern of holes like a Swiss cheese, to lighten the body.

Front and back are capped with some very pretty Indian rosewood and the fretboard, bridge and headstock head veneer are ebony.

The pickup is an Artec undersaddle passive piezo and the tuners are Grovers.

I'd be especially grateful for any feedback re the design and styling..
Cheers,
Rob.

I'd have to get used to seeing nothing but wood between the neck and the saddle, but overall, I like it and would love to hear it!

Nice. It looks really clean. Any plans to do a tenor size? As long as it sounds/plays good you could take on the Ko'olau CE-1 with a model like that.

Edit: I just saw that you wanted feedback. I see two things that I would personally want changed if I were to buy it.
1. Just single dot fret markers (except on maybe the 12th fret). The double dots are a little too much.
2. Sealed tuners.
Other then that it looks world-class.

The white binding on the ebony fretboard really looks elegant and balanced with the ebony bridge and white saddle.
Well done!

mm mm lovely..yes yes Love them rosewood...I have a madagascar one myself... thanks for sharing happy strummings..

Thanks for the feedback - very interesting in that I've a few comments here and elsewhere re the lack of a soundhole. I personally like the fact that it shows off more of the fancy top wood.

The double-dot idea was lifted from my '50s Hofner guitar. The customer originally suggested large block style inlays, but this was a look we both liked..

Thanks for looking!
Rob.
