While there are definitely wound strings, he is using a glass slide; There is that characteristic metal "whine" sound that you get using a slide with steel strings - haven't been able to reproduce it on any of the nylon/nyglut/fluorocarbon stringed ukes.

I guess it's one of the several new Asian or Thai brands. I don't think it was made especially for lap steel style.
