Ok, I'm a little confused. I have been playing the D chord where I bar the 2nd fret and then place my pinkie on the 4th or 5th fret to make a D. I got this from the chord finder that I got. I have seen it in different formats with the top three strings in the 2nd fret only. Which one is correct? Are they both?

Both are correct.

The notes played in the (2220) fingering are D, F#, and A to make the D chord (doubling up on the A). Same thing for (2225), except you're also playing a high D note instead of doubling the A.

OK. I was lost when you started giving me the notes but I learned something. I'll try the three finger D with G and C. It might sound better than the D I have been playing (high D). Mahalo for the help.
