thanks for the kind words everyone. Yeah, I put my own spin on this one as I can't help but do :o thought it might be a little more interesting to throw in the minor chord...seems to work ok but I know there are many different readings of this song...guess that's the beauty of folk music too....it's a living breathing thing and we shape it and mould it to reflect our own stories and circumstances. seems to me that the stuff of folklore is the same as the stuff of chinese whispers sometimes...we can be precious about what are 'definitive' versions of folk songs. i know pete seeger has been oft criticised by the folk music snobs for passing on twisted , less than faithful interpretations of these old tunes...but hey, what else could he do? When stuff becomes static and immovable it somehow begins to die and we keep folk music alive by creating new traditions, whilst nodding to the past..right, enough of the soapbox, thanks for watching the song you guys
