I picked up my new resonator on Friday. I got it from Cremer Guitarworks http://www.cremerguitarworks.com/ It cost me more than buying from Amazon but I like to buy from local guys that do great setups.
It came with some pretty weak looking strings, so we swapped out to Low G concert Aquila strings immediately. We filed the slots where the knots sit so that sharp edges won't cut into the Nylgut.
It uses friction tuners that work well. (I'm used to having geared tuners and would prefer them).
First impression? It is loud. On Saturday I sat in with a group that had 12 guitars, 2 string basses, an accordian, a lap steel, a mandolin and a violin. You could hear this uke. (With my level of playing ability, not sure that is a good thing)
Good bluesy sound.
