Woohoo! Today Mike told me he finished with the touchup of the tenor uke I ordered from him. So in about 1-2 weeks I'll be able to play it. It is a redwood top, koa body tenor with Worth BT strings, nice waverly tuners and diamond inlays in the fretboard as well as a K&K sound pickup. I think it is outstandingly beautiful (as are all Mike's ukes) and judging from the sound sample he sent me it sounds really awesome.

Such a uke costs around 1k dollars. From other luthiers it would have cost way more and I am not sure if that's really justified sound or material-wise.

To Deach: If you want I can send you the sound file per email.

Congratulations on your new MP tenor, Sayyadina! It looks just fantastic. Actually, yours looks like a twin of mine (which is also a redwood top/koa back and sides), but I don't have diamond position markers, strap buttons, or a pickup installed. Mike made me one happy camper, I'll tell you what. I play it daily and it's sound has really started to mature and open up in the past couple months. Bell like tones up and down the fretboard. Unbelievable quality of sound and build. Congratulations again to both you and Mike on such a beautiful looking uke.

Let me help you out so we get the pics instead of the link . . . btw, a very beautiful instrument. Now I know I gotta save some bucks, maybe next year.

Very cool, thank you. How does it work to insert the pics into the thread?

To drubin: Thank you. Your post a few months ago was one of the reasons why I wrote an email to Mike and now I am getting on for myself. Can't wait till it finally arrives here. He also told me it takes a few months for the wood to set in and the sound to mature, just like you experienced.

That's pretty cool! I think it's the first time I've seen Waverly tuners used on a uke without a slotted headstock. Not sure why that's the case, since they can obviously be used on a normal headstock.

Haha, all these nice MP ukes being cranked out by Mike is making me wish I could get one too.

Someone post some videos of MP ukes somewhere already!

So my new ukulele finally arrived last friday. I didn't have too much time to play it yet. Only been playing like 4 hours or so this weekend but I am already totally blown away by the awesomeness of the instrument.

It is the most beautiful uke I have ever held in my hands, the pics don't do it justice. The woods Mike chose are really very beautiful with nice grain and the craftsmanship is outstanding. The intonation is spot on up and down the neck and the sound is simply lovely beyong anything I ever heard and will even mature over time. I even like it more then the sound of my Risa koa concert.

The only little grievance I have about the uke are 2 very small dings on the surface of the top. This is not cool, but can't really be helped as sending it back to California form Germany is expensive (and I don't know how customs will handle the case, maybe they'd make me even pay again and the 190 fees customs cost me so far hurt a lot already) and will take long. Also I am sure this will not be the last dings the uke will get... (sad but true, it is bound to happen).
