I built one of these Grizzly kits several years ago. It's an inexpensive and fun project. The bridge placement was the most important step for intonation.

Pronounced “U-KU-LELE” (“OOO-KU-LELE” by Hawaiians), these tiny “guitars” originated in Hawaii and became very popular on the mainland after the fifties. Our Ukulele kits feature Mahogany parts and make a great instrument. The 4 nylon strings make it easy to play and a wonderful starter “guitar” for that youngster, or adult.
Some woodworking skill is necessary for the assembly of this kit. DUE TO THEIR NATURE KITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

Nice idea, I might get on of those. I read the manual, it says:

stringheight 1st fret: 1/64"
stringheight 12th fret: 3/64"

I live in the metric world, so I am no expert on inches, but doesn't that seem a bit too low?

I'd have thought a bit high to be honest. (standard disclaimer about being a clueless numpty applies!)
If my wobbly maths is correct that's approx 1.5mm at 1st fret and approx4.5mm at 12 fret?

My math makes it .4 mm at the first and 1.2mm at the 12th, hence the question.

Mine doesn't buzz and has good intonation, ukuhippo. It's a nice entry kit to work with before advancing to:
