Careless love

Very nice. A haunting performance

If you follow the links you will see there are so many different versions of this
song... the theme being betrayal and abandonment. However I like the Odetta
version the most since it is so simple and understated.

Just that small detail about the fact she can't tie the strings on her apron
because she is expecting a child and her belly is big, is quite heartbreaking
since the man responsible no longer cares for her, and has abandoned her.

Careless love indeed.

Not an uncommon theme in Folk Song.

A good version, btw. You certainly like your reverb. It adds something here, together with your spare picking style to give an air of melancholy to the song.

Thank you. I thought it was a great achievement that Odetta distilled
the whole story down into two verses. Sort of reminds me of a challenge
that was set to Earnest Hemingway to write a complete story in six words.

"For sale, baby shoes, never used"

He considered it one of the best bits of prose he ever wrote.
