I was just playing my 1930's Martin Style 1 and looking at the cracks
I repaired. I counted 10 cracks ( I think there are more, maybe 14) most of them 4 inches or more.
This uke still sounds GREAT. Oh ,ya , I also repaired a hole in the back.
So dont think a uke is no good once it gets a crack .

I hope for the sake of any future owners that you did the repair work with hot hide glue...the only appropriate glue for repair and restoration work unless you're faking in large chunks of missing wood.

Hot hide glue on the cracks and titebond on the hole in the back . I made a copy of the hole in the uke with my printer, cut it out and after a while it fit. Its about an inch by a quarter and is in the shape of a bowie knife blade profile. This uke was a wreck I got off Ebay for 66 bucks so you can see it didnt look restorable, but now it looks great from a distance and it really has a great sound , better than my other martins and my Kiwaya. I really liked doing the work,it was more fun than work. The uke was also painted in psychedelic designs and I removed that . I'm just suprised that with all the repaired cracks it still sounds great.
