The Ballad of Buddy and Pedro

Not sure if this story made the international news, but Toronto Zoo brought in some rare African penguins for a breeding program. Two of them, both male, formed a tight bond and became known as Toronto's gay penguins. However, because of their status as endangered the zoo decided to break them up to force them to mate with females.

Turns out they're now chasing after the female penguins so I don't think they're classified as "gay" penguins anymore but that's a great original by Sunny.

Turns out there are a lot of animal species that engage in same sex activities ie dolphins, seahorses. monkeys, penguins, lions, elephants etc. more so I think for social bonding. Saw a documentary a while back on Discovery Ch about this odd behaviour.
