I have a Kala Spruce top Tenor & I'm not real happy with the glossy-ness. To me it just looks 'fake'. And to add to my dis-like, it has a few finish flaws that stick out because of the glossy finish. Could I (or should I) use some 0000 steel wool or 2500 grit sandpaper to make it more Satin-like?

0000 steel wool should give you a nice satin finish. Rub in one direction as much as possible (lengthwise). I would think the 2500 sandpaper would give you a polish that would still show the flaws. Try a small spot. You can polish it back to a shine if you don't like the satin.

If you are going to use 0000 steel wool, use paste wax as a lubricant. It'll leave a nice buttery satin finish and won't show the micro scratches.

Just curious if you've ever used that satin finish on one of your ukuleles, since i don't recall ever seeing anything but a mirror finish on them? Possibly a customer requested it???
