Fingerstyle vs. Chord Melody??

Greetings,

I'm just learning uke, but I come to it as a guitar player with an understanding of some theory, etc.

I'm interested in fingerstyle or chord melody playing. I know in chord melody playing the last note or string played is the melody note. So, other than that what's the big difference between fingerstyle and chord melody playing of the uke.

I'm just getting back into fingerstyle with the guitar after a lot of years of strumming.

I saw Mel Bay's book on Chord Melody for the Uke on Amazon, and it looks thorough.
