You play the G and the B7 with a 2nd fret barre right? And then open for the C.

Works fine but it did make me wonder if the original was played on a D tuned uke.

That's correct. Yeah, it probably was a D tuning. Most of George's song are usually D. I play it in both keys. I like singing it better in C though. Heck, in Swimmin with the Women's case it's Eb. I always think the G string is going to pop off and hit me in the eye.
