In the past (i.e., childhood), snow was whiter (unless you lived in the city) and deeper (because you were short). And probably because you were little, you didn't have to shovel the driveway or drive to work among people who are frightened of slippery roads. If you were lucky, you had a mother at home who made soup and grilled-cheese sandwiches for you when you came in red-cheeked from making a snow fort. That sounds like a dream, n'est-ce pas?
