Start of first neck build

I enjoy wood joinery so when I stumbled on this I new it was time to start my first neck. Got this from a guitar builder named Greven. He calls this a birds beak. Hats off to the builders on this forum that share so much of there hard earned knowledge so freely. I know that I am better off for it, and here is proof. Thanks.
 
That looks like an insane amount of work to do a joint like that! Nice job and beautiful wood
 
You got me there. There is no advantage to doing this joint. And it is a lot of extra work. Its just another way of slicing the pie. Its also equivilant to taking the long way home. Live and learn, right. Thanks
 
That's some nice joinery....really makes the most of that grain figure. I'm glad that type of joinery is your hobby and not mine :p
