Found a statue of Charlie Brown and strapped the KPK tenor onto him.0347charliebrown2.jpg
There are lots of these around town, I might try and dress each on up with an `ukulele and take a photo!

Reminds me of a game I used to play with people all across the country. We'd photograph our scooter in front of some landmark, you know, like an outhouse or something of significance, and post it on a scooter forum for others to try to copy. I was a blast, for a while. We called it Scooter Tag.
Hmmm... ukulele tag? I dunno...

The one time I was in Santa Rosa, I remember seeing all of the Peanuts Characters around town.

I think it was cool that the Powers that Be chose to recognize Charles Schultz in that fashion.

oh - Nice photo, BTW.

I think there is another Charlie Brown stationed on the sidewalk by a great little cafe that serves breakfast and lunch by the old train station that is now a coffee house. If you take a photo there and eat one of the great omelettes there, take a picture of that one.

I use to work for a company located in Santa Rosa.

According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat article the original statues cost $3K to make. I think they are probably all worth different amounts depending upon the artist that painted them and the artwork itself.

It is fun to live in Santa Rosa, and see all the many Peanuts characters. Downtown, on some streets their are several. Makes you smile as you walk around the city.

I think it would be cool to take photos of ukuleles in recognizable or locally-famous places around the world and to amass them in one place online. I found this photo from Vladivostok, Russia, on the Internet a while ago.

As for the Peanuts statutes in Santa Rosa, San Francisco has a similar thing with hearts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearts_in_San_Francisco

Artists apply and are selected to paint a heart, after which the hearts are displayed in the city and then auctioned to raise money for San Francisco General Hospital. Many of the hearts are purchased by businesses, which then install them somewhere in the city or lend them for exhibition in public spaces. I think the Charlie Brown stuff is a great way for Santa Rosa to honor Charles Schulz, who, among other things, built a skating rink there. Santa Rosa's airport is named for Schulz. (I guess it would have been a bad idea to call it Red Baron International Airport.)
