Stray away from A-B-A-B-A-B format

Hi, all of my song have a rhyming scheme of
A
B
A
B
A
B

I try to write in another format but I don't know of any other and i can hard time putting a melody to it. So all in all I am quite lost - can any one introduce me to some other basic template of song writing and perhaps give me some tips to putting a melody to it.

Listen to some Bob Dylan, he's got alot of songs with very clever patterns and lyrics.

The key to rhyme is that it needs to support the song, not the other way round. Rhymes should fall where you want to have emphasis, so this is a good way to think about it in terms of how you structure the song.

Or you could try writing something that doesn't rhyme at all - set yourself a challenge to do this, perhaps by using a repeated word at the start of a line instead.
