Never tried the Hilo one, but I borrowed a friend's acoustic guitar that had this on it:

It sounded great, even through a Marshall. I'm thinking about getting one to swap between my guitars and ukes.

I have one of those mounted transducer pickups, works fine. but you have to stick it on each time you play and the putty that holds it on leaves a goop mark. I like the sound that it gives me, allows me to jam with friends so I like it.
