Here's a satirical look at the Sideshow that we just made called "Alligator Man." If you look closely you'll see a couple of cigar box ukes, including a Department of the Army uke. It didn't end up getting a lot of screen time, but you see it at the end. Also, there's a Oliver Ditson (made by Martin) banjolele, and a Kala pocket uke.

Thanks Wolfybau. After posting it I walked into a candy store with classic Sideshow banners on the counter and a Crocodile head over the door.

Thanks Cyril. If you want to play it, it's simply Em and then move everything up one string. Pretty easy song to play.

This is fantastic! My favorite has always been Johnny Eck, but I will take any of 'em. Great tune, great vocals and playing and fantastic video-thanks for posting it

Yeah, I'm a big sideshow fan and Johnny is great in "Freaks." I've seen a number of the modern sideshows, and the odd older, traditional act.

Hi Olarte: It may just be slow loading, or sometimes Vimeo links don't appear on some devices. You can find the
video here: http://vimeo.com/34356505

Thanks for the link Jamie, what a cool video.

Im a fan of sideshows, loved the movie freaks, and one of my favorite tarot decks in m collection is the Sideshow tarot, only 100 were made.

I've never heard of the Sideshow tarot, I'll have to check it out. Have you watched the series Carnivale?

Olarte

Oh yes, loved the Carnivale series. Netflix also as a couple of sideshow related documentaries you might enjoy.

You will have a hard time tracking down the sideshow tarot as only 100 copies were made, but if you pm me you're mail I can send you a small scans of all 78 cards :)

Thanks Olarte, I've sent you a PM. I saw about 6 of them online and they're pretty cool. Do you own a set?

Skidmore

6 of the cards, not 6 of the sets, I should say.:)

Olarte

Hi Jamie, yes I own a set, I belong to a tarot forum another great community like UU and was lucky to find a copy.

Check your pm, I just sent you a nice new years present.

Aloha,

I just tried it again, and it worked fine on my iPad...

Skidmore

Yeah, it wasn't popping up on my iPad. Same with Uketoob.com. Someone posted it there, but I can only see the image on my desktop. That's the case with all the Vimeo based videos on that site.

It's such a great video, you really should uploaded to youtube.

If you don't have an account, i'd be delighted to host it for you. :)

Some professional producers (and this is clearly a professional-quality video) tend to despise YouTube because the compression they use is unpredictable - it will often take a beautiful production and make it unbearable (to the producer) to watch.

There are also differences in licensing between the two sites.

We make these with me and my former students, who have studied some video production, so we have a pretty good group.
I intentionally avoided Youtube because of the quality issue. It seems pretty unpredictable.

We've just been invited to be on our local CBC morning show tomorrow. It's nice being a uke band in a town that's so supportive of the arts.

It was a radio interview, but here's a link to a t.v. interview we did when we were making our video. I'm the guy with the beard and round glasses.

Weird the link did not show up until I hit reply with quote. Nice segment, too short though.

Olarte - yeah, it was a short segment, but we were happy to get it. We didn't even know they were coming to shoot us until they
showed up on the day. Apparently, Facebook faxed them the event???
Lowstrung - thanks! Appreciate it.
