Can any one find out the chords ? by ear ? to this song ? I have been for sometime but can not get it

The verse is mostly G G C G. Then near the end of each verse it follows: "But (Em)somewhere, in a (Am)river
The soldier (C)died... (pause)For (G)me".

Chorus is one chord per line: C, G, C, G, Em, G, C, G.
Last few lines are just C and G like the chorus.
