Hi all,

Here are a couple of ukulele versions of songs from my last CD Until the End. I make steampunk-inspired music, so history, the sea, airships, adventurers, etc. feature heavily in my songwriting.

Both songs were originally written on baritone ukes but on the album are fully produced with synth, guitar, bass, drums, and more. Here, I strip them back down to just vocals and baritone ukulele. I do play it with a pick here as that's what feels most comfortable for me on these songs.

I hope you like the tracks!

You'd probably dig this design I submitted for Kala's Ukadelic design contest: Steampunk (http://gallery.me.com/charlesholt/100512/SteampunkUke)

Now that's beautiful. :) It's certainly better than most of the other Ukadelic designs on Kala's site. Nicely done.

When I saw the heading 'Steampunk' I understand the genre but wondered what genre of music I would hear with this....

Verdict...I reckon it's great and harks back to the folk tradition.

Maybe an idea keeping an ear to the ground as a few video games are getting into the steampunk thing...THat's if you have no objection do theme/background music?

Whatever, I detract from the point...Great stuff

Thank you for the kind words! Steampunk music as a genre is very diverse. It includes folk, alt-rock, rap, punk, metal, and the world/industrial feel I tend to go for. It's not really about any specific sounds. Instead, it's about expressing anachronistic and historical ideas in various ways.

That's a good suggestion, re: the soundtracks. I used to do soundtrack work back in the day for student films and commercials. It's something I'd like to get back into someday. I'd love to do video game work at some point.
