I just finished recording an unlikely cover arrangement of The Beatles song "Help!" - centered around my Moore Bettah tenor ukulele. It's a 3/4 ballad with just bass, drums, ukuleles and vocals - all performed by me, recorded in my home studio and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London - via their online mastering service.

Let me know what you all think. It's here:

This is the first ukulele centric recording I've made where in addition to some clean ukulele tracks, I also ran some ukulele tracks through effects (such as a leslie speaker plugin, for the bell-like descending ukulele that comes in on the second chorus.) No guitars were harmed (or even used) in the making of this song ;-)

My Moore Bettah - which I've had for almost two years now - can be seen here: http://www.moorebettahukuleles.com/humuhumu_uke.JPG

That was very cool. Based on what John Lennon has said about writing "Help!", I think he would have really appreciated this version of it.

Great job on the song. And a beauty of a double puka to boot.

I've started easing into the recording thing with my measly little "studio" - and uh yeah.. not feeling so clever right now with my tricks.

Awesome, and you really dug into the meaning of the song there.

Impressive. At first the 3/4 time really through me, making the song almost unrecognizeable, but I guess that's what's called "making it your own". Nicely done. Very creative.

Thanks for all the nice comments! And with regards to mds725's comment above...wasn't sure what you meant about what Lennon said about writing Help. Then I recently found this interview (http://imaginepeace.com/archives/4385) with John from 1970 which explains what I think mds725 is referring to. (Once the page loads, do a search on the page for Why “Help”? - which provides the explanation.)
